Jim Jablonowski Memorial
Fund
Birkie photo
of Jim, circa early 80s.
Note the bamboo poles, 75mm bindings, gators and cordoroy
pants.
And boy, has the Birkie Trail changed!
As many of you know, Jim passed away minutes after
finishing his first bicycle race, on September 14, at the
2006 Wisconsin Senior Olympics. Jim loved skiing and
especially loved skiing at Lapham Peak. Not only did he
compete in events like the Birkebeiner, Jim also was a past
president of the Milwaukee Nordic Ski Club and enjoyed
working part time at the Brookfield Wheel & Sprocket.
Given Jim's love for Lapham Peak, the family found it only
fitting to establish the Jim Jablonowski Memorial Fund with
all donations to go towards the snowmaking project. As of
November 1st, these donations totaled $3200. If you would
like to contribute, send your donation to
Lapham Peak Friends
and mention the Jim Jablonowski Memorial Fund. For a very
nice article on Jim, that appeared on the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel website,
